The Team
Phoebe Humphreys is the founder and major lead of Opera Petites. She has been a professional opera singer and creative across Australia and overseas for the past 15 years. Starting to sing at 9 years old, she first worked in the opera at Sydney Opera House with Opera Australia at the age of 11. She brings her passion and experience not only to the stage but also behind the scenes casting and recruiting professional singers and musicians who share in her passion to bring opera to schools.

OPERA PETITES’ Brand new show for 2026
Opera Petites brings the magic of opera into your school with a show allowing students from Pre-K to Grade 6 to laugh, sing, & lean in with wide-eyed curiosity. This isn’t sit-still-and-watch opera. It’s an energetic, interactive performance where students ask questions, jump into the action, & even come forward to be part of the story.
Performed by professional opera singers from the Sydney Opera House, the experience transports students into a world of bumbling buffoons, swooning sorcery, & mystical creatures.
In a brand new program for 2026, we feature scenes from beloved operas: Die Fledermaus, The Magic Flute, the hilarious Cat Duet “Meow” by Rossini, Romeo and Juliette, & many more.
After the rave reviews of 2025, this year brings more costumes, more props & more percussive elements that students can use themselves with an even bigger focus on the fun, comedic heart of opera.
